Moshe Gerstenhaber

INSPIRING BUSINESS THROUGH EDUCATION

Moshe Gerstenhaber was born in Tel Aviv in 1941.  He gained his economics degree at Columbia University, New York and completed his postgraduate business administration studies at the London School of Economics (LSE).  Moshe was awarded his Doctorate by Middlesex University in 2004.

After working in Israel for an investment company (not unlike 3i in the UK – but smaller) and a government ministry, he moved to Switzerland and for over four years worked as a finance manager of an international shipping company.

In 1976 Moshe moved to the UK and two years later with the assistance of 3i (then ICFC) and other investors launched Kall Kwik.
The Kall Kwik franchise expanded rapidly, developing into a nationwide chain of some 200 high street locations and £ 75 M p.a. in system sales.  In 1999 its shareholders sold the company to the Adare Group and Moshe decided to seek pastures new.

During the years at Kall Kwik Moshe served for some 14 years on the Council of the British Franchise Association and for six years on the CBI’s Council for the London Region.

In 1996 The Prince’s Trust presented to the British public a ‘Celebrities Painting Masks for The Prince’s Trust’ fund raising campaign.  The campaign was conceived, funded and managed by Moshe and Kall Kwik. The campaign enjoyed much success and artistic acclaim.

In 1996 Moshe became a member of the Advisory Board of Middlesex University Business School and in 2000 was invited to join as one of the independent governors of Middlesex University (London’s largest university at the time with some 25’000 students). Moshe served on the Middlesex University Board for four years.

For many years Moshe has been active in promoting a concept called Non-Violent-Communication, both in Israel and in the UK.

Throughout his twenty-one years at Kall Kwik Moshe has sought to inspire through some one hundred published articles and some one hundred public lectures not only the extended Kall Kwik family of some 1500 people but also many of the people associated with UK franchising and indirectly the 100,000 or so business clients served by the Kall Kwik Franchise.

Over the past three years Moshe has dedicated much of his time (besides uprooting from the UK and moving to live in the Swiss Alps in 2007) researching and writing his book ‘Have You Ever Seen A Retired Tiger In The Jungle?’, ‘A New Manifesto For Responsible And Democratic Capitalism’.
